About Canterbury Electronic Organ and Keyboard Club

Our former President, Frank Bailey, had the idea with friends to form the club, calling ourselves The Stour Organ Club in October 1972. The first meeting was attended by 13 people and escalated rapidly, there being only one club in the area. The name was later changed to The Canterbury Electronic Organ and Keyboard Club, as quite a few members also play electronic pianos or keyboards. We now have over one hundred members. We have two meetings a month, which has been the format since the start of the club.

The first Monday of the month is a social evening starting with a preamble and then members play for entertainment and for dancing . The third Monday of the month starts with a preamble played by a club member, and then we have professional organists to play music for all tastes. Members from other clubs, and visitors, are very welcome to any of our meetings and will be given a friendly greeting on arrival. We have an autumn dinner party each year.and  also a free Christmas party night in the form of an American supper style with dancing to our resident players.

The club usually meets on the 1st and 3rd Monday of the month at 7.30pm (preamble at 7.00pm)

Subscription: £6.00

Members admission: £4.50

Visitors admission: £5.50

Other events: 1st Monday of the month is club night, guests and members £1.50
