Stilton Charity Concerts
All concerts take place on a Sunday afternoon commencing at 2.30pm (doors open 1.45pm). The current admission price as and from March 2019 is £10.00 which includes interval refreshments (tea, coffee, cold drinks, cakes and/or biscuits) and is payable at the door.
Any proceeds from the concerts will aid local charities or good causes although, for the first year and a half, I contributed to the running of the new centre and to purchase items such as curtaining for the main hall (now done Jan ‘19). The total donations amounted to £975 over that period. However, with the sudden large rise in the hall hire charges, any money left over in future will go to local charities.*
Currently run under the "Your Kind of Music" banner and based on an idea and help from Elizabeth Harrison, we have grown our audience to become successful at this great venue. Although I head the organisation I would not be able to run it without immeasurable help from my team.
This was a new venture having started in April 2017 and your support has been most appreciated to help us keep the music going! For further details please give me a call. With audiences increasing in numbers during 2018, with many new to the scene, it was decided to produce an outstanding programme of events for 2019 with some of the best players available. One special artiste was no less than Claudia Hirschfeld who appeared on Sunday 5th May and we are delighted she included Stilton in her UK tour as it was a total success with 114 in attendance. The year continued with top class players and, although I fixed the concert dates and artistes for 2020, we all know what happened and only Jon Smith and Lee Dewsnap played in February and March before that damned Covid struck.
But PLEASE NOTE that after 18 months away Stilton's Keyboard Concerts will be back on Sunday 5th September for a trial run up to Christmas with more top line players......Matthew Bason, Brett Wales, Chris & Joanne Powell filling first three months with the December slot still not filled. Hopefully we will be able to continue into 2022 as all the dates are booked but this will depend on the number of patrons attending and there being no change in the Coronavirus situation. The Pavilion will be made as safe as possible with hand sanitation and a Track and Trace system in operation. Face masks will be optional. We (Pat and I) sincerely hope you will conquer any fears and come back for the music you love. We all need each other to be able to continue!!
If you need any information then do not hesitate to contact me by phone or email - 01480 474282 (callers will be asked for name), 07918 602600 or email: firstname.lastname@example.org Venue address is Stilton Pavilion, High Street, Stilton, Cambs, PE3 7RA (just south of Peterborough off A1)
* I changed our charity beneficiary to the Cambridgeshire based Magpas Air Ambulance as and from April 2019 and they have already received £800 from Your Kind of Music so far (January 2020).
