Our Society Badge represents the Buck (Deer) on the lee-side of a hill, being the derivation of the name Buck-ley |

|
Buckley & District Organ Society was formed in August 1997. It owes it's existence to the dedication and
direction of the men who now comprise it's committee. Many of you will
remember Harold Mouncey, who was our Honorary President,
during the
time he had his “Golden Oldies” business here in Flintshire..
Until we became the proud owners of a new Yamaha
AR-100, we played "Golden Oldies" generously loaned to us by Harold.

Buckley is a town
unique in all of Wales. It has a culture, dialect and
history very different from the Welsh border communities which
surround it. There is a keen interest in music,
particularly brass bands. In fact, several Committee
members, in addition to being organists, are band members too.
Here the Buckley Town Band is
seen marching through the new shopping precinct which was opened
in 1999 |

Every summer, the
whole town turns out for the Buckley Jubilee Parade which
includes local churches, brass bands and businesses. This
celebration has its roots in the temperance movement of the 19th
century.
On the town map you will find
names like Tabernacle Street and Jubilee Road. |

The
unique dialect of Buckley is, of course, fading out with the
advance of modern communications and travel, but the pride in
what Buckley was, and is now, will always be there.
