Versatile

As musical director for the Royal Spa Centre, Leamington Spa for over seventeen years, TONY WHITTAKER has played for many shows and professional pantomimes, working alongside such TV celebrities as Gaby Roslin, Darren Day and Coronation Street stars Nick Cochran and Eve Steel.

A highlight in Tony's career was when he was asked to be Musical Director at Birmingham's Symphony Hall for BBC Radio WM 30th Birthday Celebration Variety Show compered by Ed Doolan and Malcolm Boydon. The sell-out concert included Irish singer Dominic Kirwin, Black Country comedienne Lizzie Wiggins, TV cook & singer Rusty Lee, and Australian Folk star John Williamson.

As leader of JAZZ QUINTET Shades of Shearing - Tony has performed extensively over the UK Theatre Circuits including the prestigious venue - Fairfield Hall, Croydon.

Tony's musical interests are wide, and when he is not recording advertising jingles for commercial radio, writes musical arrangements for Big Bands, cabaret artistes and performers, including Italian singing star Renato Pagliari. Tony has made several TV appearances on Granada, Central News, BBC and Channel 5.

For CONCERTS Tony plays KORG synthesizer (with foot pedals) and KURZWEIL digital piano presenting a varied and entertaining programme that includes well-known standards, Gershwin, Cole Porter, etc, Show Tunes, Light Classical, Latin and jazz in the George Shearing style.
