John Romero has been a professional entertainer for over thirty years. He spent the early years of his life based in Watford and it was here he learnt his trade as an entertainer around the London Clubs. In 1980 John moved to Clacton on Sea, in 1999 he moved to Eastbourne and has recently moved to a little house by the canal in Middlewich, which will be the family base for the forseeable future.
Classically trained and a prior winner of the British Accordion Championships, John turned professional as a musician in 1979. Since then he has appeared four times on national UK television (his latest appearance was in 2016), on Radio 1 (having been featured on "John Romero Thursdays") and entertained on numerous cruise ships, the last was for 11 months cruising around the USA, Mexico and the Caribbean. John served as entertainment co-ordinator for a large holiday site in Clacton for seven years and has worked hundreds of clubs, pubs, hotels and restaurants during his career. Amongst his other achievements are writing for several music magazines and the formation of 'Carillon Studios' and 'Carillon Music Festivals'. It was his idea to create the new team that has taken over this 'OrganFax' web site and more recently also launched the AccordionCentral website.
Many will know John's wife Jackie, they have been married approaching 30 years and he acknowledges that without her help, he could not have achieved as much as he has during this time. Their youngest son Alex is becoming an important team member for their Carillon Festivals.
John has recently returned to the Organ & Accordion Society circuits after a number of years away from it. Following the tragic loss of their first son seventeen years ago, their lives changed completely and John decided to only take gigs within a very short distance from home. Since the birth of their second son, some normality has returned and in addition to his more local work, he is now taking concert dates for 2017 and beyond (please be aware that only John's concerts are listed below and that he is also available for corporate and function work as well).
Potential bookers may be interested in this quote from at Ferdown Music Makers Society after John's last concert there.
"Thank you so much for a wonderful concert last night. To be honest I was a little concerned beforehand as to how the audience would react to something different, however I need not have worried. All the comments received as people left the theatre were very positive, such as 'Wow what an evening' and 'What a talented man'. It was also very noticeable that everyone left with a smile on their face".
