Oscar Battle is the acclaimed winner of the coveted title, UK Young Theatre Organist of the Year 2025, having won the competition organised by the Wurlitzer Heritage Trust (formerly known as the London and South of England Chapter of the American Theatre Organ Society) and held on the Wurlitzer at the Musical Museum in Brentford.
Music has always been a part of Oscar's life, having first learnt the piano when he was a young boy. His introduction to the organ began at home in Norwich, where his father, Steven, owned Cookes Pianos and Organ, and regularly played a Hammond organ with Leslie speaker.
During Easter 2023, Oscar had his first experience of playing a theatre organ, an event that sparked a deep and lasting passion for the instrument in him.
Oscar doesn't read music but has a remarkable ear, so he learns new pieces by listening carefully. He also has perfect pitch, which helps him to pick up melodies and harmonies quickly, something he approaches with quiet confidence rather than a loud fanfare.
Oscar has just started to attend an engineering college, as he aspires to work in that field for his future profession, keeping music as enjoyabe addition to life.
Based in Norwich, he is delighted to now be accepting bookings to play cameo spots around and about the country.
Oscar will also be featured at the following festivals this year.
