About Kingswinford and District Organ Society

The Society was formed in February 1978 by a group of enthusiasts with much support from the Kingswinford Royal British Legion Club and Wolverhampton organ dealer John Howl. After a few 'fund raising' functions and early concerts sponsored by John Howl, the Society was soon in a position to hold regular monthly concerts featuring well known names from the organ circuit.

John Howl was the first President of the Society, holding the post until 1983 when Peter Cox from Stourbridge Organ Centre fulfilled the role until 1991. Chris Giles took up the post until 1994, when the current President David Ingley was elected.

Regular monthly concerts are still held at the Kingswinford Royal British Legion Club, with concert night attendances of between forty and fifty.

Two Charity evenings are held each year, performed by David Ingley and his students, and these have resulted in over £15,000 being donated to various local charities over the past sixteen years.

As the Royal British Legion Club is a private members club, Society members need to be a member of the Royal British Legion (not necessarily the Kingswinford branch), but visitors are always welcome.

Concert nights are held on the fourth Thursday of the month at 8.00pm (No meeting in December).
