About Scottish Cinema Organ Trust

The Wurlitzer cinema organ in Pollokshaws Burgh Hall's ballroom was built as a 3/8 in 1937 for the Ritz Cinema in Stockport (UK).  Initially designed to accompany silent films, cinema organs later entertained audiences before and after screenings and became popular radio broadcast features.

The Scottish Cinema Organ Trust (SCOT) installed it at Clydebank Town Hall, where it was played by theatre organ legend Dorren Chadwick for its civic opening in September 1998.  After suffering repeated damage by flooding from the River Clyde, the decision was taken to find the organ a new, dryer home!

With the water damage repaired, the organ, now a 3/21, was installed at Pollokshaws Burgh Hall, where it is maintained by SCOT and is frequently used for enjoyable concerts, silent films, dances, and more.
