About Richard

My name is Richard Shirt and I am a young organist and keyboard player. I have played professionally for a few years now both solo and band performances. Along the way i have played all over the UK with a few bands and played various parts of the country with my organ and keyboards.

I first started to play the organ when I was 11 years old, from there I took music as a passion and tried to strive with excellence in all my musical work.  I studied music in my GCSE’s and obtained an A* grade which pushed me further into doing a Music BTEC course at Barnsley College.

After completing my 2-year course at college I left with top marks, 3 Distinctions and a BTEC Diploma. Whilst in college I had the opportunity to obtain an NCFE in music.  After college I then attended Huddersfield University, where I studied in a Popular Music Degree. After all this I am now attending a teaching course where i hope to achieve a PGCE in music for teaching purposes.  

The instruments that I play and are included in my set up are, my Yamaha EL700 organ, my Tyros 2 keyboard, and my PSR 9000 Pro Keyboard.. (PSR 9000 from time to time) Throughout my performances I like to give a wide variety of music and styles, including something for everybody.
 
I would like to keep getting the opportunites to play for different clubs/societies to improve my solo performance and to gain confidence when playing on stage.
