Born in Aylesbury into a musical family, Penny confesses that her life revolves around music. Her father used to play records to her from a very early age, her sister sang to her and her mother used to play hymns on the piano. As a small child, Penny started knocking out tunes on an ancient piano and at the age of twelve started on classical pipe organ. She admits to being somewhat of a 'slow starter' having reached only Grade 2 Piano by the time she was thirteen. However, she progressed rapidly after this to the point where she was awarded a study bursary by the National Federation of Music Festivals. Other studies followed at the Royal College of Music, Royal College of Organists and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. |

Penny is a very talented lady, having won several awards ranging from the usual prizes from piano competitions to a Bugden/Interlink award in 1990 which funded her first professional album. She now has several albums to her name. Her talents are not solely confined to music, however, since she writes poetry and prose as well as books about music. Awards in this field include Poetry Now and Writers West. She also produces a quarterly Newsletter of her own entitled 'Penny Post'. Details of this can be found on Penny's main website. |

Her life seems to be pretty much in the fast lane at present, with her writing, teaching, recording, playing at festivals. She is seen here conducting a keyboard orchestra at the Caister Festival organised by Sceptre Promotions. She is also as a popular performer on the organ and keyboard society circuit, playing her Yamaha EL900, and manages to squeeze in time to be an Examiner for the London College of Music and has broadcast on Radios 2 and 4, Classic FM and often local radio. She has, of course, also been featured on the BBC2 Radio show The Organist Entertains. |

Yet another activity in which Penny is heavily involved is her running of HF Special Interest holidays offering a range of tuition breaks in very well-appointed country houses. The food and accommodation are full board and excellent and work is in small cosy groups. There are also other holidays offered for non-musical partners, or they can just take it easy.
