Michael was born
in Barnsley, South Yorkshire. He was influenced at the age
of 9 and he found a true passion for music when he heard musicians such as
Jerry Allen, Harry Stoneham (Michael had the pleasure of playing a duet
with Harry when he was 11 years old - what an experience that was!) and
Reginald Dixon, amongst others. Michael was also inspired by the
wonderful sound of the Big Band and the colour and drama of classical and
orchestral music. That was to be the beginning of a long musical
career when he first started organ lessons, playing classical pipe organs.

. In Michael's solo concert performances, he uses an impressive combination of Yamaha HX1 organ, Yamaha PSR9000 and Yamaha PSR3000, including a full PA system, to enable him to play a wide variety of music from classical, to standards and popular music. He has a very informal approach to his concerts and has a good rapport with audiences. Michael offers a very different kind of concert playing and it is evident in his concert work that his real love for music shines through.
