CONCERT & DANCE ORGANIST
I began playing at around the age of 7, after deciding I wanted to learn the organ having spent many family holidays in Blackpool, listening to the ‘Mighty Wurlitzer’ in
the Tower Ballroom. Lessons began at a local music shop and later continued at home with a private tutor.
In the mid - late 1990’s I regularly went on holiday to Pontins in Blackpool where I had the pleasure of meeting and watching Robert Davies, who was the resident Dance organist, hearing him play spurred me on to save up for a Yamaha HS8 organ, which I later bought aged 18. The influence Robert’s style & Music had on me made a lasting impact, and I attribute almost all of my success and skills to him. Another friend and influence is John Bowdler who is one of the Tower Organ team.
I began playing semi-professionally around 16 years of age performing for local dance clubs and hotels, I was appointed the resident Dance Organist at the Embassy Club In Carlisle, a position i held for over 8 years until I decided to move on. I studied music to diploma level at college in Carlisle gaining a pass with Distinction in 1998.
As well as playing I was a member of the music staff at Lime house School In Carlisle for around 4 years and taught privately.
Today I currently combine my playing with teaching and running my own computer upgrade, repair and service business based in Carlisle Enterprise Centre.
In concert I use either my Yamaha HS8 or Yamaha EL-90 Organ, I try to put something in the concert for everyone and appeal to all tastes.
I have played both pipe & electronic organs, and enjoy the chance (When it Arises) of playing the Theatre Organ.
I hope you enjoy the evening, and look forward to meeting you at the Concert.
