Born and educated in Wigan, Lancashire, Blackpool Tower organist John Bowdler has been playing the organ since the age of 8.
He has been one of the team of resident organists at the famous Tower Ballroom since 1987, a position he took up at the age of 16 straight from school.
In addition to his commitments at The Tower, John also travels the length and breadth of the country every year covering thousands of miles undertaking concerts for organ societies and social groups as well as playing for dance events. He also makes several appearances at organ festivals across the UK.
John's unique playing style means he is always in demand to both ballroom dancers and die hard fans of organ music.
John has released many CDs over the years, and 2015 saw the release of his first DVD "Step Into My World" which features clips from his tours as well as interviews with some of the people who know John, including his teachers.
It also features rare cine footage of John's childhood.
John can be seen both in concert and playing for dancing at the consoles of the Blackpool Tower mighty Wurlitzer and Technics GA3 organs.
