An Organ Society which has played host to some of the biggest names of the Organ and keyboard world is celebrating the 30th anniversary of its formation by staging a spectacular gala concert.
Llay Organ Society based in the village of Llay near Wrexham, North Wales which became one of the largest Organ Societies in the UK, was founded by a group of electronic Organ enthusiasts who started meeting informally in 1983. The Gala Concert which is being staged on Friday 21st March at Llay Royal British Legion will be one of the highlights in the Society's season of concerts planned for 2014 and features popular Organist and keyboard star Ian Griffin who will be performing alongside Cabaret star, Singer and Comedian Andy Oakley.
Ian, from Neath in South Wales has been in the Music industry since the age of 12 when he made his first television appearance on BBC 1, playing the Organ in a Children's talent show. During his career he has toured with legendary singer David Alexander and appeared regularly on Radio Wales, BBC Radio 2, HTV and S4C as well as being as being one half of popular Organ duo "Keyklix" which he formed with Organist Richard Bower.
Joining Ian on stage will be Torquay based Comedian and Singer Andy Oakley, a familliar face at popular Organ festivals whose 30 year career has taken him all over the world, working in cabaret in theatres, hotels and cruise ships. Most For the last 7 years, Andy has starred in the Summer season variety show at the Babbacombe Theatre in Devon.
Speaking about the Gala Concert, Organ Society Chairman Ron Jones said "We wanted to do something really special to celebrate 30 years of Llay Organ Society and we know that we are in for super evening of music and laughter with Ian and Andy. We hope that many of the people who have been members and friends of the Society over the years will join us for this special event. I am immensely proud of the Society and to have been its Chairman since the start, we have a lot of great memories to look back on and it is thanks to the loyal support of our Members that we are still going strong today".
