2013 found her with a full list of engagements with concerts, television appearances and public speaking. Her involvement as a Rotarian saw her performing at the Rotary Conference in Harrogate as well as adjudicating at the Rotary Young Musician Competition in March hosted by the Rotary Club of Wolverhampton, and again this year in 2014.
During 2013 Jean travelled extensively both in the UK and Europe in theatres such as the Pavillion Bournemouth and the theatre Royal Windsor. She performed on both piano electronic and classical pipe organ in Switzerland and returning there again to perform at the prestigious Swiss Jazz festival. In Kings Lynn she gave a classical recital on pipe organ, and piano, plus her beloved Yamaha followed by a concert in Norwich. She appeared on ITV in a drama series performing a classical piano recital in Coventry cathedral called “Love and Marriage.”
In December, Jean was invited to give a performance on grand piano in the State Room at St James's Palace where she was musical director for various artists including Boney M. She is thought of with great fondness by the Not Forgotten Association, who support members of the armed forces who have returned from Afghanistan and world wars. She was formally introduced to the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester. The Princess Royal is the Patron, and again Jean will have the pleasure for the fourth time of meeting with the royals.
She performed her own Christmas Show at the Prince of Wales Theatre in Cannock and she switched the Christmas Lights on in Cannock Town Centre . Following this, she performed on both piano and classical organ at the Fairfield Halls Croydon.
She was a guest organist playing the lovely pipe organ at West Bromwich Town Hall for the Christmas Carol Service put on by the borough of Sandwell and performed several concerts up until Christmas including accompanying and performing with the Military Wives choir at the Royal Hospital Chelsea (home of the Chelsea Pensioners). In conclusion Jean has played a large number of Charity concerts including one for the Sequel Trust which raised a significant amount of money. Jeans' fundraising to date has reached £50,000.
2014 is already proving to be a very exciting year. Jean will be appearing on television when she performs in concert in Holland, and then she hosts the show in the Garrick Theatre "Lichfield's Got Talent on March 30th at 7pm. Four local charities will benefit from this show, and as well as being the compere she will be opening the second half with her unforgettable performance as seen on Britain's Got Talent. View it on You Tube or her website http://www.jeanmartyn.com
On April 26th she is putting on a huge charity concert which is already a sell out, where her guests are the Military Wives Choir, and if that is not enough she will be appearing on our television screens for eight weeks as MD for a new programme...watch this space!!!!!!!!
With all of the above, I can't believe Jean has managed to find the time to release new albums, but she has! A new DVD entitled 'When Will I see You Again' and a new CD 'The Unforgettable Jean Martyn' are new additions to her catalogue and more details can be found on the website.
