Last Thursday (November 22nd), North Staffs Organ & Keyboard Club staged a charity concert in the aid of the Midlands Air Ambulance and raised a fabulous £1,100 for this very worthwhile charity. The organist was a 'new boy to the block', John Cooper who provided his services completely free of charge in a bid to try out his brand new concert program. John has been off the circuit for 18 years, concentrating on teaching but now is available for concert bookings. John's program was extensive and varied with literally something for everyone in the audience of 130. He has obviously spent a long time preparing his concert program with some very unusual arrangements of popular classics as well as a few pieces not usually played by visiting artists.
A large proportion of the proceeds were from a grand raffle with 22 great prizes all of which had been donated by members and friends. Andrea Kerr, who is a pupil of John's, sold over £160 of raffle tickets in addition to donated several of the bigger prizes.
A cheque was presented to, Jo Bailey, a representative of the Midland Air Ambulance, who expressed her delight at the amount and thanked everyone involved in raising the money.
We would like to say a big well done to all involved! If you have special news about your club don'r forget to let us know so that we can put it up on this page.
