As we have mentioned previously in OrganFax news, Andover shoppers were treated to the sound of music on Saturday 30 June – music provided by top Dutch musician, DirkJan Ranzijn.
The entertainment was provided as part of the Chantry Centre’s Community Calendar and Dirk performed tirelessly throughout the day to help raise funds for Andover Young Carers. Sponsored by Weyhill Electronic Organ Society, Dirk entertained the shoppers with a varied and melodious selection of music and even obliged with a few requests, including one piece selected by the Test Valley Mayor. Other visitors to the event included the local MP and two former Test Valley Mayors.
As well as being great publicity for the genre of organ music the commendable sum of £247 was collected for the Charity and the occasion was very well supported, despite it being the first event of its kind to be staged in Andover. It goes to show what can be acheived with a little effort and we would like to show our support to this and all events like it!
