Due to a major ingress of floodwater beneath Gosports Thorngate Halls Ballroom, the Clubs 3/13 1934 Compton has been out of use for the past month while the floor has been ripped up.
The water ingress was found to be a crack in the sidewall of the foundations which allowed the water in, causing the Ballroom floor to delaminate. Fortunately the water leak did not affect the Compton. It was decided that when the floor was replaced it would be raised some 60cm bringing the floor up to the same level as the surrounding seating area removing some of the Health and Safety issues with the lower Ballroom floor.
We are pleased to report that the work has been now completed and the Ballroom reopened and Club Members will be able to resume playing the lovely old instrument.
The Gosport Club meets at 1pm on the second Wednesday of every month and they welcome new members, especially players.
