Christmas Open Night at
North Staffs Organ and Key...
We have just received news that the Wisbech & District Organ society which was in danger of closing due to problems has been taken over. The society had been running for nearly 40 years and for the last 17 years under the stalwart supervision of Margaret Kettlewell. Sadly Margaret had been told to lighten her load under doctors orders and so a new secretary was needed. The existing members were reluctant to take on the post and keep up her standards, and so the other two ladies felt they also wanted to hang up their chains of office, so ultimately the Society was set to close after October\'s concert with Janet Dowsett.
The sad news was relayed at the recent Keyboard Cavalcade festival when brought up during a forum type session, and everyone agreed that it would be a disaster to see such a successful concert society, who regularly achieve good audiences, close down.
David Thomas was of course working at the Pakefield festival and on hearing that a society within 30 mins of his home was in danger of closing, after a brief discussion, decided to see if there was any way in which he and his wife Teresa could help.
To cut a long story short...... David & Teresa Thomas are to take over the concerts held at the Central Hall, Emneth, Wisbech, Cambs. Under a new name of KeyNote Concerts, their first official show is on Sunday 7th November 2.30 pm, when the featured Artiste will be Trevor Flunder playing Lowrey.
David & Teresa have many ideas that will be put into place over time, but for now they would like to take an opportunity through ORGANFAX to wish Margaret and her retiring team all the very best and congratulations on handing over a successful Society after their many years of hard work. They hope the three ladies will continue to enjoy the shows from their comfortable audience seats.
Further details of the present concert programme through until May next year can be found on the Brand New Website.
