Newport Orchestra Ensemble with B.K.Soul Man Joint Concert at
Cardiff Live Music Club
The mighty Compton organ at the Pavilion Theatre, Bournemouth, was featured to a packed house of around 1,400 patrons by organist Michael Wooldridge last Sunday when he appeared as special guest with the legendary Mantovani Orchestra.
Using the orginal Mantovani scores, in the presence of the great man's son, Kenneth Mantovani, the orchestra was conducted by Roderick Dunk, who often directs major orchestras around the world but including the Halle orchestra and the BBC's Friday Night Is Music Night, along with leader Cynthia Fleming, from the BBC Concert Orchestra.
Besides his organ features in each half, Michael was also thrilled to join the orchestra as piano soloist for a couple of items, including Mantovani's own composition, Cara Mia, which was made so popular in the charts by singer David Whitfield.
