The 2010 keyboard festival is to go ahead as a special event in the main ballroom of the award winning Sand Bay Leisure Resort - and not in a smaller function room as a party event as previously thought.
The change was made not to disappoint the hundreds of enthusiasts who have supported the event since it was first staged at Pontin’s Barton Hall, Torquay, in 1980.and more lately at Lyme Bay.
The 30th anniversary of Cled Griffin’s British residential organ-keyboard festivals will take place at the Sand Bay Leisure Resort on 15th –18th October 2010 when Jean Martyn will also celebrate her 30th year in show business. A sherry reception and a bucks-fizz party on the final evening is planned for the special occasion.
John Mann, who played at the first festival, will be joined by others who started a new trend in keyboard entertainment, together with many popular players who have become star players since then.
The weekend will include a guest cabaret spot hosted by Ian Griffin who was the musical director in a similar formatted programme on ITV-Wales ‘Friday Night Live’ some years ago.
Because the event will cater for larger numbers, the HB tariff is reduced from £159 to £149 with the deposit lowered from £50 to £25. This attractive reduction is also to ensure early booking on what is going to be the event of the year. It will be marketed as: ‘The Sand Bay Keyboard Cabaret Weekend’ because of its varied programme and the huge success of this year’s event – which was totally different to any other keyboard festival held to date.
The Sand Bay reservations hotline is: 0845 88 00 211 (local rate)
The event will be supported by: Musicland, Swift Music and Harmony Music.
