North Staffs Organ & Keyboard Club are now celebrating their 40th year.
The club was formed in February 1969 and originally called The North Staffs Wurlitzer Club. To celebrate this landmark, 132 of their members were treated to a completely free evening of entertainment to the fabulous music of Brett Wales. They also provided a plate of refreshments and of course a birthday/anniversary cake. As they were afraid that it might not go around they also had 132 individual cakes made with a little flag denoting the 40 years anniversary.
Brett played an hours concert and then after the interval played for dancing which had the dance floor full and left those still sitting, tapping their feet to the music.
During the evening they projected a presentation onto the large screen depicting interesting facts from back in 1969 including frighteningly the prices of the average house and a gallon of petrol, and reminding the audience of events like the final live performance of the Beatles, the first flight of Concorde and the launching of the QE2. The presentation also included filmed highlights of the 1960's in general the highlight of which was England winning the world cup.
An enjoyable evening was had by all and OrganFax wish them well for the next 40!
