Organist and composer Andy Quin returns to Keele University Chapel to give a concert in aid of the restoration of the unque pipe organ.
He is delighted to be revisiting this special venue where he last performed over 30 years ago as piano soloist with the North Staffs Symphony Orchestra in Rhapsody in Blue. He also spent hundreds of hours practicing on the organ designed by the lat Prof. Geirge Pratt, who was head of the music department at Keele whilst Andy was an undergraduate there. After more than 50 years service, the instrument is to undergo a complete restoration and addition of two extra stops to bring it up to it's original design specification.
In the first screening of a silent movie in the Chapel's history, Andy will be improvising musical accompaniment to his favourite silent comedy genuis Buster Keaton in two of his greatest films: The Ballonatic and Steamboat Bill Jnr. These films include footage of some of the most daring and famous stunts in the history of film making.
