Horsham Organ Society closing statement

Posted: Thursday 23rd November

Horsham Organ Society was formed in 1978 by Ian Wollen and Mike Randon and it is with regret that we now have to confirm that the Society (now called Horsham Organ/Keyboard Society) is to close down in January 2018 – exactly 40 years on.

Like many other clubs our numbers have dwindled over the last few years and we now find that with no youngsters to help, the Committee has reluctantly decided we must close.

Our artistes are booked through to the end of 2017 and the very last concert for anyone to visit Horsham is Wednesday 13 December when we welcome back local keyboard entertainer Ray Campbell.

We should like to thank all who have attended over these 40 years and especially in the early days the help we had from Organ Suppliers – Jimmy Smith Organs (he was our first President), Teville Organs, Bonners Music,   Musicland, etc etc for their help in supplying instruments.

Also Organ & Keyboard Cavalcade Magazine and Organfax each month for their advertising.

All the Artistes over 40 years who have become friends -  shall be missed greatly.

The YMCA volunteers who always assisted us in the Hall.

Lastly we shall miss our monthly meetings very much and I personally  hope to still see some of you at various Festivals and when in our area.

Thank you all

Violet Whittingham (Secretary)
