It was with much regret and sadness that the committee of Bury St Edmunds closed their doors last December. Since then however there has been a glimmer of hope that has appeared with the start of a new club in the area called "St Edmundsbury In Tune".
This new club to be run by Mike Roberts is being put together with the help of artiste Elizabeth Harrison who herself runs the "Leyland In Tune" club. It is hoped the new club will be able to emulate Leyland who have themselves raised over £26,000 for good causes since launch.
The venue for St Edmundsbury will be the Horringer Community Centre,The Street, Horringer, Bury St Edmunds, IP29 5RU (2 miles South West of Bury St Edmunds on the A143). The first concert on Friday 27th January will feature Elizabeth Harrison and concerts will follow on the 4th Friday of the month and start at 7-30 pm. Entrance to the concert will cost £5 plus we will ask for a voluntary £1 donation towards Tea/Coffee and Cakes. The charity to benefit from the first concert will be the St Nicholas Hospice Care.
Mike is appealing for any volunteer helpers to run the monthly charity events. The tasks that require assistance are:- Tea/Coffee makers and servers, cake bakers, raffle ticket sellers, setting up and clearing away chairs/tables etc and a compere. If anyone would like to help please contact Daphne Jones – 01359 250729 or Mike Roberts 01359 250704 or 07773 244616.
We wish them all the best for the future!
