Andrew Nix and Family go all out for Charity

Some of our readers may already be aware that Andrew Nix and wife Lisa, pictured here with daughter Melissa, signed up for "Brave the Shave" to raise money for a cause that meant a lot to them... MacMillan Cancer Support.

However, that considerable dedication has since escalated even further and now the Nix family are organising a Family Fun Day! The event takes place on Sunday 28th August 2016 at the Red Lion Public House, Hambleton, near Selby.

The event starts at 3.30pm with David Hinde, best known as the Walmington on Sea Town Crier from the Dad's Army Movie! Next up is a children's fancy dress competition, a bouncy castle, a barbecue and much more! Early evening will see Andrew and Lisa having their heads shaved which has already attracted a fantastic online sponsorship response. If you'd like to contribute, you can find Lisa's page here, and Andrew's here. And that is only the start, the pot of sponsorship is already swolen by donations from friends, family and acquaintances.

Andrew said, "We are so grateful to local businesses who have donated some fantastic prizes which are to be raffled off on the day. Also, we will be auctioning a signed script from Emmerdale, a voucher to have a men's jacket tailor made, and a brand new 61 note musical keyboard.".

The evening see's entertainment from local vocalists Abby Yates and Crystal Phoenix.

The event is open to everyone and there is no charge for admission, in fact, everything is free! We are sure this will be an exciting, fun-packed day. But, perhaps more importantly, we are sure Andrew and Lisa will raise a fantastic sum of money for a very worthy cause.
