After many years of wonderful sounds and performances Jean Martyn has said farewell to her beloved EL900. Now using the fabulous Yamaha TRX system (Tyros5 linked to a Yamaha stage piano with Hammond pedals to complete the set up). She says "I have really appreciated the positive comments using the new system".
She has some exciting months ahead with her concert line up, visiting organ clubs and appearing again on the internet chat show "Sun Bingo Having a Ball" which she both hosts and plays for. Everyone she chats to online remembers her success as the "Organist on BGT".
Jean has recently had 6 weeks resting following a foot operation but all is now well and she is now off her crutches, only wearing her surgical boot in the evenings. If she turns up to play a concert with it on, don't be surprised. Jean has been known to play a pedal solo with her left leg in plaster and was even wheeled in a wheelchair across the stage by Michael Wooldridge at a concert at Bournemouth Pavilion to play the beautiful Steinway Grand Piano, nothing fazes her.
She is excited to soon be performing on a cruise liner, a new avenue for her and hopes that this will reach out to (non-organ) people in the audience. She is fully booked for 2015 although some 2016 dates are still available. Not all of her dates are shown on Organfax as Jean is often booked at 'Public Speaking' engagements and by return invitation will be performing in the Royal Households again this year.
Talking of royalty, Queen Jean as she is fondly known at Rye, looks forward to meeting friends old and new at Seacroft, and of course at any venue where she will be performing in her own inimitable style. If you want to keep up with Jean's busy lifestyle you can see on her website which is currently under construction here you will be able to order cds, enquire about bookings or just keep in touch by email.
Finally, Jean is pleased to announce that her husband Bob is finally, after several heart operations, recovering well. He is in total control of managing Jean's bookings. Controlling Jean is another matter!
