On Sunday 15th March, the New Forest Organ Society held a lunch with an organ concert at Hoburne Bashley, New Milton in support of the Help for Heroes campaign. Help for Heroes is the charity that is raising money in support of our badly injured men and women returning from Iraq and Afghanistan, to help provide them with special facilities etc.
They had a full house of 230 people and everyone enjoyed a two course lunch, followed by a concert with organist Ian House and then a cream tea. This was followed by an extraordinary raffle which raised more than £1,000 during the afternoon. Ian House, who played a wide variety of music, including big band, light classical and latin on a Roland Atelier 900C electronic organ, was sponsored by Roland UK in support of H4H.
Adding together ticket money, the raffle and cash/cheque donations received during the past few weeks, NFOS is able to hand over a cheque to Geoff Tilston, Club Manager of Hoburne Bashley, for £3,500. Geoff is also the Hampshire Co-ordinator of events for Help for Heroes.
Sandra Ebbets, Chairman of NFOS, thanks everyone who donated money and wonderful raffle prizes and congratulations goes to all who made this wonderful afternoon happen.
