2009 will see a new addition to the Folly Farm funfair (Pembrokeshire) with the arrival of their Mighty Wurlitzer.
Paul Kirner, of Compton Lodge, Sapcote, Leicestershire, who purchased the Wurlitzer from the Lancastrian Theatre Organ Trust, has provided the organ to Folly Farm on long term loan. It is being installed and will be maintained by Ben Snowdon.
To celebrate the new arrival, Saturday 2nd May at 7pm will see John Mann take his seat at the 4/14 Wurlitzer previously installed at the Gaumont Cinema and Granada Studios, Manchester.
John will play a varied programme of cheerful music on the Mighty Wurlitzer including some novelty pieces and tunes of yesterday, all interwoven with his friendly banter and a few piano solos.
A rare opportunity not to be missed. New organ installations are rare these days, due to the difficulty in finding venues able to house such large and magnificent instruments, so this is a fantastic opportunity to attend the opening of one of the UK's finest examples.
Tickets are priced at £8 and available from Folly Farm Box Office, 01834 812731.
Well done to all the team and wishing you every success in your new venture.
