Back in 1978 the London Chapter of ATOS set in motion the Young Theatre Organist of the Year Competition, which over the years has given valuable performing and social experience to many aspiring organists. Further from our previous news post, a petition has been set up for fans of organ music to show their support for the change that many believe must happen to stop Radio 2s "The Organist Entertains" doing more harm to the organ and keyboard world.
The BBC's weekly radio show on Radio 2, "The Organist Entertains", seems to be be creating increasingly large armounts of negative feedback.
Organist Chris Jones feels that enough is enough and has written directly to Nigel Ogden, the show's presenter, expressing his disappintment in the show's content.
Kevin Grunill has asked us to remind any organ lovers in the Yorkshire area that Chris Powell's concert tomorrow (Saturday 11th January) will not be held at the Paramount Cinema in Penistone, but rather on the superb Allen Digital Theatre Organ installed at St. Andrews Methodist URC church in the town at 2.30 pm. All the proceeds from the concert will go towards the installation project for 2 Compton Cinema Organs in the Astoria Centre, Barnsley! Keep up the good work Kevin!
