Blackpool Pier Power!Blackpool Pier Power!

Following a 2000 name petition, daily concerts are to return to the North Pier in Blackpool from May this year.

The new resident organist, David Windle will follow in the footsteps of Raymond Wallbank and latterly, Kevin Grunhill. 

Playing his Yamaha FX20, David will perform 2 concerts daily featuring many light classics,popular music and requests.

We have just received a note to say the Wurlitzer organ concert at the Thomas Peacocke School, Rye this Sunday at 2.30pm will now be with Michael Wooldridge and not Penny Weedon.

A friend of mine has suggested that I write to you all to say how much I have enjoyed my very FIRST ORGAN FESTIVAL. I have recently been to Sand Bay near Weston-Super-Mare to a “Music for All” festival organised by Byron Jones. I have never been so entertained in my life! The organists both male & female were worthy of the highest praise, and the Grand Piano specially hired for the occasion was a touch of culture to us all. North East Derbyshire Organ Society proudly celebrates its 25th Anniversary this year. The occasion was marked on Wednesday 15th April when the society’s President, Andrew Nix, performed a special Anniversary concert which attracted a large audience and was attended by several of the original founder members.
