Tuesday 11th September

The aisles of Hereford Cathedral will be ringing to music of a different kind tonight, Tuesday 11 September. Nigel Ogden, presenter of Radio 2’s ‘the Organist Entertains’, will be playing a specially prepared selection of popular and light classics at the cathedral at 7.30 pm.

Nigel’s favourite styles of music and personable manner will be well-known to the thousands of listeners to his regular radio programmes, and he is looking forward to making a return visit to Hereford, where he has enjoyed playing in the past.

For a number of years now the MBS team have promoted one day organ festivals in Bournemouth, however, they have now decided not to continue.  We received the following press release from the managment team yesterday:

'After careful consideration the MBS team has reluctantly decided to bring the annual festivals to a close.

Its just a week to go before the next Carillon O&K Festival with John and Jackie Romero. With a great line up that includes Tony Stace, Pete Shaw, David Harrild, Michael Wooldridge and Ian House they have just announced another special treat that is to be included in the weekend. For the first time they will be running an excursion to the East Sussex National Wurlitzer (the largest Wurlitzer theatre pipe organ in Europe, having 32 ranks of pipes) and guests will be treated to the music of Michael Wooldridge during the afternoon.

There is a new web based radio programme available to those interested in the world of Theatre Organs. Steve Ashley, who ran the original version between 2006 -2009, has restarted the programme. Folly Farm’s Managing Director, Chris Ebsworth met with HOPE Centre Chairman Ken Brombley and Secretary Margaret Brace with Event Organiser Phil Thompson ahead of the charity concert at Folly Farm; the amazing one Mann variety show on Saturday 15th September where all proceeds go to the local HOPE Therapy Centre for Multiple Sclerosis.
