We have been extended an invitation that may be of interest to those in the Theatre and Church Organ World. Stockport College (Manchester area) will be running an entertaining lecture on Pipe Organs covering subjects such as tuning and restoration on Thursday 25th October 2012.
The evening will be presented by David Wells (D W Organs) and we are told non members to the college are most welcome.

Yesterday 5th October saw the funeral for Nick Swift. The Chapel was full and standing room was arranged outside as over 200 people attended the memorial Woodlands.
Music was played by Michael Wooldridge, the eulogy was given by Colin Ford and the ceromony was conducted by Rev Ann Parker.
Many of the guests which included family, friends, customers, musicians and leading names in the music business stayed an hour or so to swap stories about Nick.
Following several years of hard work by the Furness Theatre Organ Project Group, the work to install a Wurlitzer pipe organ into the superb Royalty Cinema in Bowness, Windermere will finally come to fruition this weekend when international organist Chris Powell is joined by David Shepherd and David Ivory for a Gala Concert on Saturday 6th October @ 2pm followed by a showing of Harold Lloyd's 'Safety Last' (silent film) with David Ivory at the organ.

The home music world has been shocked and saddened by the untimely death of Nick Swift of Swift Music at the age of only 57. He was widely known for his unstinting support of organists, organ societies and music festivals throughout the country and the contribution he made is immeasurable.
