Spotlight on Tony Fenelon

Spotlight - Tony Fenelon Music lovers have every reason to be excited this month as we witness the welcome return once again of one of the God Given Geniuses of the popular keyboard world – the one and only 'Tony Fenelon' direct from Melbourne, Australia!

As Roland's principal 'Global Artiste', it is not uncommon to find Tony performing concerts and demonstrations in all 4 corners of the globe for the popular Japanese manufacturer. Tony combines a very rare combination of skills these days – he is something of a master musician and technician on the one hand, whilst he is nothing short of a true gentleman on the other and has unsurpassed people skills making him feel like you have known him all your life….

A true academic, he holds a Bachelor of Science Degree as well as a Licentiate Diploma in Piano Performance. Tony was appointed head of the department of Biomechanical Engineering at the Royal Melbourne Hospital in 1991. He is actually accredited as the joint designer of Australia's first cardiac pacemaker!

It was perhaps his musical activities, which were much more in the public eye; he has been a frequent performer with The Australian Philharmonic and Australian Pops Orchestra. Piano aside, it was Tony's love of the organ, which lead to him being appointed Resident Organist at Melbourne's Regent Theatre in 1965 playing the Mighty 4/19 Wurlitzer. More recently in 2002, Tony was both delighted and honoured to receive the distinction of 'Organist Of The Year' by the American Theatre Organ Society. His finest accolade yet came in 2003 when he was awarded the Medal Of Order Of Australia in the Queen's Birthday Honours for his services to music.

Now retired from medicine, Tony continues to perform as guest pianist with the orchestras mentioned above, he is a popular featured artistse on cruise ships, as an exponent of the theatre pipe organ an of course as a true master of the Roland range of keyboard instruments.
