I am trying to help find a tutor in my area for someone who is very keen to learn, but so far with no joy. I found one internet list and suggested he might find it useful, but he had already gone through every person on it, and none of them responded to him. I didn't realise just how difficult it is for anyone to even learn to play now from a teacher. I know there are means to teach yourself from books and videos, but for anyone who wants conventional instruction from a living being where have all the teachers gone? If you are a piano/keyboard teacher in the North Devon area and can help, I know a keen person who might be very interested to do business with you.
    In his own words:
'- I've tried everywhere I can think of. When I got the keyboard I thought it would be fairly easy to find someone to teach but it's not proving to be so. I don't mind travellling to someone 20 - 30 miles would be fine - it's just finding anyone that does it, that's the problem.'

Hello Pete. So sorry to hear of your difficulties. If you're still looking, here is one idea worth a try: contact your nearest London College of Music exam rep. They are listed at:

I'm not 100% certain, but I think they might be able to let you know the keyboard teachers in your area by those who enter candidates for keyboard exams. Best of luck!

Sorry it took me 3 months to read this thread, BTW.

Thanks Penny. I shall pass that possibility on to him. I haven't actually heard from him of late, but I'm sure if he hasn't found a teacher yet he will very much appreciate your suggestion, as do I.
