  1. Hi, Just thought i'd put up a post to say hello. I have been in to Theatre Organs and Virtual Theatre Pipe Organs for a few years now. I am currently converting a 1928 3 Manual Wurlitzer 240SP (white and Gold) Theatre organ console to midi, to run with the Hauptwerk Software and Milan Digital Audio Wurlitzer Samples. I am also keeping the console running on the electro pneumatic action, so it will still need a blower to function, so i'm not destroying the console... just adding to it. If i can be of any help to anyone needing advice about Virtual Theatre Organs, or anything to do with the audio set-up / arrangement or midi systems, feel free to ask away as i will be monitoring this forum from now on.

    All the best,

    Chris

    Welcome to the forum Chris.
    I own a Yamaha EL-90T a Yamaha CVP-69A digital piano and a Yamaha PSR9000pro Keyboard.
Your knowledge regarding midi set up will come in very useful. Take a look at the thread named “Theatre Organ In A Box “. You may just be able to help resolve a lot of problems.

Hope to see you on here regularly.

    All the best for 2010.

    Regards

Welcome aboard Chris. Hope things are progressing well with your set-up.

Tony (see toiab thread) has the Hautwerk software too, (you possibly know him already from Reg's seminars). The last I heard, he was thinking about selling it (due to Fantom-mania taking over & the fact I've "converted" him to installing the SRX Orchesrtral board :-) but maybe if you know of anyone else interested in the Hauptwerk software...

Don't know if MP updated you....but I got the Fantom upgraded to version 2.02 no problem. Roland (Swansea) did this, and renewed buttons on the front (even though there was nothing at all wrong with them, whatsoever) FREE OF CHARGE!.... That's what I call good service!!!!

Wishing you all on the Forum the very best for the New Year.

    Regards,

    Nicola

Hello chris .. nice to hear from you on here .. sounds a good set up you gonna have with the 3 manual wurlitzer & hauptwerk..

Nicola thanks for giving that a mention but someone took this off my hands a couple of weeks back... i started to run into a few problems trying to run the Theatre box and hauptwerk from the same organ .. although i connected a midi thru box to the organ, the midi solutions box wasnt getting enough power then to the fantom this way .. i tried using the midi thru from the fantom to the p.c to control hauptwerk this worked fine using hauptwerk but it sent the fantom buzzzurk.. when going back to the fantom all my settings were all over the place and had to power off/on to get it back to its normal state . .. i didnt want to be pulling the organ out every time i wanted to play one or the other swapping midi leads about etc.. i emailed midi solutions as to why the box wouldnt work and was told id need an extra power supply to connect to the midi solutions box.. more expense :-(

Anyway i decided either an organ just for hauptwerk or it would be better in the hands of someone who has a dedicated organ just for running hauptwerk ..
also my head was starting to get in a mess .. i was spending hours a night messing about instead of sat down playing.. probably had too much going on at once .. so now its just the fantom (and of course the srx 06)

All the best for the new year everyone.. and happy fantom-ing nicola !

  6. Hi Guys. Glad to hear the fantom was upgraded for you Nicola, I was beginning to get a bit worried that it was no good for you ? i never even knew until Mike said that there was an updated version available. The T.O.I.B is a fantastic piece of kit... i Only went to Hauptwerk because i need all the stop tabs on my organ to control all the ranks on the organ. I will probably get another fantom for my organ console as long as i can get the thumb / foot pistons to work with midi... this is quite complicated due to voltage differences in the console.

    Happy New Year Everyone!

Hi Chris, I didn't wan't you thinking the version 1 was no use - quite the opposite! A Fantom with version 1 is 1000 times better than not having one at all :-) No it's just speeded it up a bit on the sound changeover + 128 extra voices & the sample tools expansion kit. The thing is, playing it as a theatre organ, you probably wouldn't even notice the slightly longer delay between sound changes anyway. I imagine you've been entertaining the family over Xmas with yours, since TV has been it's usual rubbish...? Is is nearly complete now? No prizes for guessing what your Xmas wish list was :-)

Tony, you're not the only one with your head in a mess.....I now remember you did tell me you had sold the Hauptwerk :-o my head was in the clouds at the time!

I'm away to checkout this website that Bill has put on for us :-).....much more interesting than the TV (yawn....)

  9. Hi Nicola. I'm still waiting for the guy to finish re-leathering all of the internals in the organ console so i can get it back and fit the midi system. I'm hoping to have it fully finished before early summer. I've got everything here that i need... just need the console back now to get it all fitted up.

Blimey, Chris!!! That must mean you have nothing to play at the moment? Howl!!!!......You must be having "withdrawal symptoms". Oh well, patience is a virtue, and it will be well worth it in the long run :-)

    Take care,

    Nicola
