    Tony,

Well I got the reader today and no luck loading into the fantom.

It keeps telling me on the screen "init perform" and if I go down with the arrow and pick card it says "init patch". So went back to commputer and reloaded the cf card again and this time when I put in the card to the fantom it started to load and only went abour 1/4 of the way and stopped.
So I am afraid that I did something wrong when I originally backed -up the cf card, and that means that I don't have a good copy anymore. I am not going to send it back to Reg as he will charge me this time and I can not afford another penny right now, so I am going to call it quits I just can't get anything to work right. Wayne

Wayne .. Have you checked inside the folder on your p.c that you copied ?
when your copying always make sure you look inside the folder to make sure the samples are there.. if its saying init perform then im afraid it looks as though its a blank card. usually when this happens you will notice it just plays a a piano sound.. check the fantom folder 1st though .. open the fantom folder on your p.c then openone called samples . see ifthe files are in there.. cheers .

    Tony,

Yes they are their, all 1467 of them.
this is what I have after I go to windows exployer under documents, and bring up fantom. SMPL, SND. The I select all and the left click and hold, move to removable disk, which is E on my computer and it loads in the reader. then I take the cf card and put it in the fantom and turn on. It only loaded 1 time and inly 1/4 of the way and stopped. \

Could it be in the fantom?

Now, when it will not load in the fantom, I can move to value to card and that is where i get INTI PERFOM. For some reason it will not reloadRegards Wayne

Wayne - do you have more than 1 cf card you can try?.... A few things to check is - Is the cf card 1GB or less? I have sucessfully used a 2GB card in mine, but the Roland manual advises only UP to 1GB. Also, was the cf card a fresh, blank card? If you can, get another blank card and try reloading the sounds from computer on to that. If it still doesn't want to load properly, it could be the ram memory in the Fantom. You could try taking that out and refitting it and see if that helps. Please note I'm "grasping at straws" for ideas as to what may be wrong, and the above advice might not help, but it's worth a try....

    Nicola,

yes I have a couple of cf cards but the two that I just purchased are 2 gig.

I notice that on Reg's card he wrote 2 gig and that is why I bought the 2 gig. when it comes to fooling around with the fantom ???? with the ram memory.
    cheers Wayne
p.s. I will try another blank otherwise maybe you or Tony could copy to one of my blanks if I sent it to you.

Hello Wayne. I do not know a lot about Fantom. am still learning.
Did you update the memory in the Fantom, before starting.?????
It needs at least 256Mb, to run the CF card.
The latest card needs over 300Mbs

Keith, thanks for the tip. I think you've just solved the problem. The more I think about it, the more it sounds like a ram problem....from what Wayne said, it's trying to load, and but then it looks like it's "running out of room",...it never dawned on me to think if there was enough ram in it.

Is the weather still nice in NZ? Cheers, Nic

Praying for rain? We'll send you some of ours, as long as you send the sun here!

Yes, the HS8 can make a good contoller for a midi add on. One thing to note though Keith, the HS8 only has MONO inputs, meaning you wouldn't get true stereo on your Fantom. However, I got an electrical engineer that knew about organs to modify my old HS8 to STEREO input. Tony's HX was also made stereo input by the previous owner. I suppose it all depends on whether you would want to be bothered with this or not.

Glad you had a great concert from Chris! Yes, he never changes. One of the true entertainers, which just reminds me how lucky we are in the UK.

It's just dawned on my thick brain that NOW is the time we are all awake!!! USA, UK and NZ, at the one time how amazing is that?.....we should all link up and do a round the world Fantom concert, ha ha!

    Cheers, Nic
