Empress Ballroom Blackpool Dancing

    Hi All,

    The dance held in the Empress Ballroom, Blackpool, on the 21st of December was a great success! Over 100 people danced and enjoyed sherry and a mince pie, also a free raffle!

    Sadly, the Wurlitzer was removed some 40 years ago. However, it is hoped that the Theatre Organ in a Box will be used for the next dance which is to take place on Monday 14th February, 1-4pm, tickets from the Box Office, Blackpool Live or on the day, £4.00.

    Steve Tovey will be at the Piano and myself at the Yamaha D Deck and TOIAB. Come along and have a dance or just listen to the music!!

    Nice to see the Empress Ballroom being used for public dancing as it seems be just used for the competitions. Didn't know about this one, but I guess the weather would have prevented us going. Hopefully we can make it to the one in February.

    This one was very short notice, but it reached enough people to make a good afternoon of it!

    We MAY be piping the Opera House Wurlitzer through for a couple of dances too, nearest we will get to hearing 'live' Wurlitzer in there again!

    I cant see any problems. We heave already thought it through and the technicians at the Wintergardens say there will be no problem in doing it.

    The organ has been piped around the wintergardens before, not for dancing however. There wont be any problems with delays as I am hearing the live output and the dancers will hear the miked output in different buildings. The effect in the Empress Ballroom would be, basically, the same as playing an organ CD.

    Its not the first time an organ will have been miked from one room into another.

    Friday 29th April, Dancing in the SPANISH HALL, Blackpool Wintergardens.

    1-4pm £6.50 to include Tea and Sandwiches and big screens to watch the Royal Wedding! More details soon!
