Don't know JLOW. I was actually wondering the same thing as no more has been heard about it - at least not up our neck of the woods anyway. Pity..... as it's spec looked to be very promising.....

Update - here's a link that takes you to Ian's site, and you can see a photo of the Brand X..... http://www.spanglefish.com/iangriffinandhismusic/

I'd love to hear it, as I am a huge fan of the Ketron sound......

    My thanks for the information.
After the fanfare (?) there really is no relevant, up-to-date information regarding the availability of Brand X.
The site shown seems to only be about Ian & Organ 1st.
Although Ketron is shown it is believed that other keyboards could be used making it a custom build to meet the players requirements.
Perhaps Brand X is having a zzzz.... siesta.

That's interesting! I didn't realise that it was a custom build for any keyboards, I thought it was only Ketron.... just think of all the lovely possibilities it could open up to mix and match. Korg and Ketron would be nice.... Roland and Ketron would be nice......

Yes, it must be the hot weather - everyone does unfortunately seem to be having a siesta at the moment. z,z,z,z... maybe something about the brand X will turn up in one of the magazines?....

An ORGAN would be nice, something that hasn't got three miles between each keyboard and rather handy 'thumb pistons' so your fingers dont have to leave the keys to press awkward little buttons elsewhere!

I've seen a new Tyros 'organ' set up and whilst it sounds good, it looks awkward to me.

I can not understand the idea behind faffing about with keyboards to make a set up that is, essentially, an organ.

I was lucky I guess, I managed to get a second hand D Deck!

Lucky you Cameron getting a D Deck, I think it's a super instrument from what I've heard and I'm sure it will give you many hours of pleasure. :-)

I think the faffing about with keyboards stems from the fact that many people are perhaps not satisfied with the package they are getting in some of the organs on offer in today's world. Like you, I personally couldn't live without my piston buttons, and I like being able to put multiple voices on my lower manual, something which can't generally be done with the keyboard configuration. However for some people (especially previous Yamaha organ fans), I think the only way they can see to go forwards, is to resort to the 2 keyboard configuration. When Yamaha UK announced that they would not be bringing in the Stagea/D deck into the country, many organ fans were outraged and therefore saw no other option but to try the keyboard configuration......

All the more reason for you to appreciate your D Deck!

    Enjoy! ;-)

It appears we get slapped wrists for discussing this here, according to another website. I'm not specifically talking about brand 'X' however, which is a neat way of making up an organ.

I can see that the keyboard configuration is the only way forwards for a lot of people at the moment, but something still says in the back of my mind, how silly! They've killed off organs, to bring out keyboards, to offer people the chance to make their keyboards into organs!

You have to mess with cables, plugs, sockets out on the road. All I have is a power lead, pedalboard to organ lead and jack to jack leads and a power lead for the Amp, sets up in about 10 minutes, lovely! One or two organists I see out on the dance circuit are messing about with cables for about 30 minutes or longer!

The D Deck is fabulous! There is a LOT it can do, and I have only just scraped the surface! I jave a concert shortly on it, which is going to test me and the D Deck!!!

Slapped wrists? For what? Chatting about the Brand X, or for daring to mention the wonderful D Deck?..... ;-) If it's about the Brand X and it's not to be mentioned yet, then my wrists are well and truly slapped.

If on the other hand, it's about the wonderful D Deck / Stagea, then NOBODY will slap my wrists or try to shut me up from commenting on what a wonderful piece of kit this is!!! I had a nice chat to Penny Weedon about it and she was telling me about all the excellent added features on it like splits etc.

Good on you for taking it out in concert and sharing it with people. I'm sure you will have a ball with it. :-)

Oh, and at the risk of getting lynched, I agree wholeheartedly with your above comment about killing the organs off - I've thought that for years............
