The Exeter Electronic Organ Club was formed by a group of electronic organ enthusiasts in May 1972 to enable them to hear top organists perform on their favourite instruments. Organists come from all over the country and sometimes from abroad to perform a two hour concert from their latest repertoire. The stage is properly dressed with lights and a mirror and our performers usually remark on the brilliant acoustics of the hall.
We always have a half hour tea and raffle break which gives our 100 or so members time for a friendly chat and an opportunity to exchange ideas about Life, the Universe and Everything else. Like a lot of clubs these days we have been losing members, and as part of our promotion to reverse this we are supporting our local hospice who are displaying our posters and selling tickets.
Again we hope to attract clubs within our region, and with the beginning of summer hopefully we will see a few holiday visitors, considering the west country is a favourite destination for a well deserved break, so please come, you will be very welcome. Tickets prices have yet to be discussed, but since it is near enough 17 months away there is enough time, just keep watching our web page, and we will add that information as soon as we know. But for all those who visit our club it’s useful to know we always sell tickets at the door. Contact for tickets will be our treasurer, Fred. Tel 01395 264914 or E-mail at fandcbrowning@talktalk.net
From 2012 we will be dropping our January concert, this has always been an awkward time just after the festive season and the weather has had a somewhat devastating effect on attendance. Being January as I update this, isn’t it typical that we haven’t had a lick of snow, but who knows what the rest of the year will bring. This year is our 40th anniversary as a club August is the key month and we are hoping to do something special. Our organist for that month is Jean Martyn, Who better! Our concert on this occasion will be starting at the earlier time of 7.15pm, as we hope to have an extended interval with a buffet a bit of bubbly and a celebration cake. Tickets will be £6 and that includes the buffet and can be bought at the door so don't worry about booking in advance. We have written to local clubs, who we hope will come and join our celebrations. So to all organ club enthusiasts, who happen to be on holiday in the area, please came and join us we would love to see you
The club usually meets on the 1st Thursday of the month apart from May when it changes to the 2nd Thursday because of local elections. Concerts start at 7.30pm. Doors open 7.00pm
