A few years ago the Society was re-named the Eastbourne Organ Club and in 1993 was again changed to include the words "and Keyboard" as a move to widen the scope of interest and to increasing our 80 strong membership. Our monthly concerts are still provided by professional organists.
We are fortunate in having a close contact with Bonners, the largest music superstore in the UK. They are always willing to provide all their new customers with details of our Club's concerts. etc. and of course all you need to know about musical instruments. A great place to see instruments large & small.
Holiday visitors to Eastbourne and surrounding areas are always welcome .Those staying at the seafront hotels can easily get a Taxi for the 5-10 min journey to the club.
The club meets on the 1st Tuesday of the month and start time is 7.30pm.
Subscription: £10.00 to become a member // admission is : £4.00
Visitors admission : £6.00
Since October 2010 the club has had a new chairman, Charles Clegg, who is ably supported by a very strong and enthusiastic committee of nine members. The club is growing once more but still needs your support in order to sustain this happy friendly musical society.
Yamaha and Bonners Music Superstore helped arrange a special concert evening at Eastbourne Organ and Keyboard Club last night (2nd February). A grand total of £250.00 was raised and The towns Lord Mayor, Greg Santos, presented a cheque to Derek Legg the chairman of fund-raising for the Eastbourne branch of the RNLI.
Richard Bower complete with a Tyros 3 provided the audience with a wide range of concert music which ranged from Classical to Rock and Roll. The appreciative audience shouted for more at the end and the Lord Mayor complimented him on his playing. Richard will be back in Eastbourne in just a couple of weeks at the Yamaha Luxury Keyboard Owners Club. Details of this event to follow shortly.
Chairmans report for the Charity show.
Despite the very late change of artist I think I can truly say that Richard Bower gave us a very well played and varied assortment of music. I do feel he had thought of all of the audience in his choice of music. VERY WELL DONE Richard.
We were of course attended by the Mayor of Eastbourne (Mr Greg Santos) who agreed to hand over the cheque for 250.00 pounds to the beneficiary, Chairman of the Fundraising for the R N L I (Eastbourne) Mr Derek Legg. Unknown to me when arranged , these gentlemen know each other very well so they sat next to each other during the concert. We also had the Chairman of Hastings Lifeboat Fundraising with us and I would like to say “Thank you” to Mr Arthur Miles for the loan of the “Flags” which helped set the scene.
We also had a visit from John Romero. He is running two weekend music festivals, one in 2 weeks (accordion)19th Feb - 22nd and in 3 weeks (Organ & Keyboard(6th Feb - 1st March)These are at the Queens Hotel.Eastbourne Do contact him by phone for details 01323 733700 preferably after 10am. Unfortunately I had hoped we would see Tony White with us but he was busy in a meeting during the evening. We missed you Tony.
Our thanks to John Romero for the photo he put on the site for us from the evening - Georgina
