The music YOU like to hear. That is th ekeynote of the Bristol Hammond and Electronic Organ Soceity, now well into their 42nd successful year. To achieve their aim they demand a high standard of performance and also ensure the friendliest of atmospheres, so that concerts are not just audiences listening to programmes, but meetings of like-minded devotees socialising together. This was again emphasised at the last Annual General Meeting when history was made by fifty members turning up to show their enthusiasm and it was made clear that others were still welcome. The Society's membership - including Life Members - holds at near the maximum of 270, thanks to newcomers being welcomed into the lists all the while. When Anno Domini means that some long-time members can no longer attend owing to lack of transport, every effort is made to get them to concerts at least occasionally. The 2007 programme has been designed as a blend of the tried and trusted and some organists who have not been before; and the 2008 line-up will soon be taking shape. Graham Wall was re-elected Chairman at AGM, with Roger Cox as deputy. Norman Walters as Honorary Treasurer, and Marsha Cox as Assistant Honorary Secretary. The others on the Committee are Anne Moore, David Hooper, Janet and Philip Gaines and Doris and Brian Rickards. Enquiries are always welcome, either by telephone or email. |
