| Formed in 1966, as the
Bournemouth branch of The Hammond Organ Society, under the
chairmanship of Mr. Sydney Webb, the interest was such that by late
1967 it was becoming clear that the appointment of a committee was
desirable. Subscriptions at that time were set at 1 guinea for the
first member of a family with ½ guinea for additional family members.
Meetings were held in Hotels in the Bournemouth area.
At a committee meeting in 1976, a recommendation was put forward that the Society’s name be changed, and at the AGM that year the current name of Bournemouth Electronic Organ Society was voted for and adopted. The new Society became autonomous at this time and free of any company franchise. The move to the current venue in Wimborne took place on the 21st August 1979, with a membership of 145. This figure has steadily increased since then, and now stands at a maximum 320. The Society owes thanks to all the past Chairmen, Secretaries, Treasurers and committee members for their commitment and dedication. Also to all members and visitors who have loyally supported us, and the artistes who have given us so much pleasure in the past. We continue to enjoy a full membership with a healthy waiting list, and can almost guarantee a full house for visiting artistes. An invitation is warmly extended to visitors at each concert where we endeavour to accommodate everyone.
